Taking inventory: Out with the old, in with the new

What I liked about 2006
  • Exploring St. Louis
  • Game nights with Mike and Lindsay
  • Spontaneously grabbing a bite to eat or a drink at Riddles or Blueberry Hill
  • Book club
  • Summer nights at McGurks
  • Tubing in Missouri, oh wait, that was really trashy
  • Spending time with my family
  • Biking in Forest Park
  • Learning how to "geo-cache"
  • Mornings at the creperie with friends
  • Jumping on the MySpace bandwagon and never looking back
  • My vacation in Florida and OBX
  • Finding everything that is hilarious in this world on youtube.com
  • Mojitos
  • St. Louis Cardinals winning the World Series
  • Whitewater rafting
  • My birthday weekend in Chicago
  • Exploring the botanical gardens
What I won't miss about 2006
  • Seeing every single business incorporating the St. Louis arch into their motto
  • John trying to make me go up in the arch again
  • Endless interviews
  • The "weakness/strength" question. Barf.
  • The "Head On" commercials
  • Expensive gas
  • Natural diasters
  • Terrorism
  • Any of the songs by Nickelback or the million others who sound like them
  • Seeing one more picture of Nicole Richie eating a hamburger
What I am looking forward to in 2007 (sev)
  • Saying two-thousand-sev instead of two-thousand-sevEN (we haven't had a number ending in two syllables in a while, and quite frankly, my tongue got lazy)
  • American Idol and my ritual dance to opening music
  • "The Hills" - I know, you can make fun of me now. I might even give "Dancers Life" a shot too.
  • Picking up a new (or maybe old) hobby
  • Spending quality time with my family
  • Planning trips to see friends in San Diego, Seattle, DC, Denver, OKC, and Boston (be patient, peeps!)
  • Tasha's wedding (I promise I will be a great bridesmaid!)
  • Reading some good books - got any?
  • Getting healthy
  • The Guy Davis concert
  • My birthday - the big 25!
  • Wearing flip-flops again
  • Seeing more of Justin Timberlake
  • High-speed internet
  • Watching more Conan
  • Spending more time outside
  • Making more visits to Chicago
  • Using my Banana Republic gift card - thanks, Court!
  • Relaxing with my "Nap" blanket and pillow
  • Finding a good job
  • Reminding myself: "Happiness is not a matter of events; it depends upon the tides of the mind."

Love the post! I totally agree with more JT and less Nickelback and more American Idol and less "Head On" in "double 0-seven" (that's what I've been calling it) but I'm all about abreves, so I think I'll use both. Cheers!

This is an interesting blog. I should make a list of things that made me happy this year and things I won't miss. It would relax me, give me purpose and meaning of the past and hope for the future... But I'm too anxious to concentrate and I don't have the time. EEEEEEKKKK!
