This weekend was planned around the IU vs Kentucky game. John came down to Bloomington on Friday night and we were both exhausted from the work week. We went to a great Mexican place for dinner, had plenty of chips and salsa, and a celebratory end-of-week drink. :) It was a perfect Friday night.
John's friends, Blake, Jinks, and Blake's brother-in-law came down on Saturday to attend the IU vs Kentucky game. John and I (non-ticket-holders) hit up our favorite bar, Yogi's, to watch the game. The place was packed and we panicked about finding 2 inches of personal space, let alone a table. John approached an empty table to see if it was reserved and then we heard "Whitney! Whitney!" I was caught a little off guard to hear my name and it was hard to find where it was coming from in the packed bar. I tracked down the shouts and was quickly reunited with a sorority sister, Whitney (yes, same name). Then I looked to where the other shout was coming from and it was another table with John's friend and his wife, Chris (Chopra) and Allison. We all exchanged hugs and hello and were invited to sit at both tables. :)
John and I sat with his friend because they were clearing out momentarily to head to the game. Ohhh to have tickets! John went up to grab us a couple drinks and then he ran into two more friends. Now this was quickly turning into a bar where everyone really does know your name! John invited them to our table and they became our game-watching buddies. These two guys devised a plan to design "Air Gordon" t-shirts and were trying to sell them before the game. I passed one to my friend's table to do some free advertising and a t-shirt was bought at her table. Then one of the t-shirt makers approached another table and they went crazy for them and bought a bunch. It was funny to look around and see everyone wearing these t-shirts.
Soon the game was over after IU kicked some serious Kentucky tail and my apartment was filled with sports-loving, Wii-playing, pizza-eating boys! I have to say I had a great weekend, but I definitely had to nap today. Being one of the guys is exhausting!
